Coronary CT Angiogram

Michael Brant-Zawadzki, MD
Hoag Hospital
Newport Beach, CA 92658-6100

Clinical History
79 year-old male with atypical chest symptoms, negative stress test. Given the patient's atypical symptoms and high calcium score on CT coronary screening, a coronary CT angiogram was done. This revealed diffuse disease of the left anterior descending artery, with proximal and mid distal foci of pre-occlusive stenosis found.

The patient underwent elective coronary artery catheterization, approximately one month later. The study verified the presence of the diffuse left anterior descending artery disease, including the sites of stenosis shown by CT coronary angiography.

A coronary artery bypass graft was performed urgently after the cardiac catheterization, due to the very slow flow within the left anterior descending artery. A mammary graft to the LAD was performed, the contractility of the heart was preserved.

The patient had previously been on medication for his hypercholesterolemia and hypertension.
